Getting your home ready for Christmas is a really special time. There’s a wide array of colourful and unique Christmas decorations to suit everyone’s style, personality and most importantly, interior décor. Here’s a run down on how to incorporate four very different design inspirations into your home ahead of Christmas.

Fun

Who says a Christmas tree needs to be green? We’ve seen a variety of unique ways to ‘celebrate’ the tree over the years, including ones made out of wooden planks, fold up ladders and even books. Baubles of course don’t have to live on the tree either – birdcages, mirror plates and cake stands are perfect holders for an array of big and small baubles. Boxes wrapped in Christmas paper and tied with bows are great for dotting around the room as a quirky feature.

Sophisticated

If you want to add a touch of glamour to your Christmas celebrations, then black, grey, silver, red and white are the colours to go by. These types of colour schemes will be perfect against a backdrop of homes with neutral coloured window and conservatory blinds. Church candles, cocktail glasses and silver painted pine cones are must-haves on the dinner table, while filling transparent bowls with sparkling baubles and festive scented pot pourri make great features around the house.

Vintage

Wooden baubles and festive paper chains hold fond memories for many and adding these vintage touches to your home allows you to be creative. Handmade wreaths are a great way to add a personal touch to the home and are relatively easy to make, whilst jars stuffed with peppermint sticks and mint humbugs create a classic feel and a welcome treat for visitors.

Traditional

Despite all of the unique and creative ideas on offer, traditional Christmas decorations have stood the test of time. A classic Christmas tree, lashings of gold and red tinsel and twinkling lights are the usual sight at this time of year. This type of décor will be perfect accompaniment for homes with classic window shutters, so that you can enjoy your traditional Christmas with a comforting level of warmth and privacy throughout December.
