What Exactly Are Café Blinds?

Despite what their name might suggest, you do not need to own a café to get café blinds. They can be installed in the home, office, or indeed anywhere. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, you might be confused about what they are. The name is a bit misleading, and we’re often asked what they’re used for. So let’s take a few minutes to explain what café blinds are. 

‘Half Window’ Blinds

Café blinds are sometimes referred to as ‘half window blinds,’ and this is arguably a more accurate term. They have a versatile design whereby they can be moved up or down from the bottom or top of a window. This means they can easily cover half of a window and leave the other half clear. 

Consequently, café blinds are ideal for situations where you want to maintain privacy but still let ample light into a room. For example, if your living room faces a public road, you could use café blinds to cover the bottom half of your window. You’ll get a well-lit room, but you’ll also be able to relax and watch TV without any passers-by looking in. 

This style of blind has long been popular in restaurants and cafés, hence the name. However, there’s no reason to limit them to businesses as they’re equally useful in the home.
