Conservatories are a great place to unwind. There’s nothing like relaxing beneath the blinds and reading a novel while sipping on an Iced Tea. The only downside to spending your days in the conservatory is you’ll notice the dirt more often.

Conservatories are one of the hardest rooms in the house to keep clean. They attract more grime than the living room or kitchen, and keeping insects out is a never-ending battle. This means that your window and roof blinds need regular cleaning if they’re going to look pristine.

The good news is that cleaning them is relatively simple. Let’s discuss how to keep your blinds looking immaculate all year round.

How To Clean Your Conservatory Blinds

Here at Appeal Home Shading, we offer a wide range of conservatory blinds that are easy to clean. If you’ve chosen a wood-weave blind, such as our French Pinoleum Blinds, try breaking out a duster and giving them a good once over. Alternatively, use a vacuum cleaner with the brush attachment to suck up dirt, ensuring it’s on a low setting to avoid damage. Don’t neglect the roof blinds; use a step ladder to reach them safely. If there are any stubborn stains, use a damp cloth and mild detergent to remove them.

Once done, leave the windows open to let the moisture out, and they’ll dry in the sunlight within a few hours.

Watch Out For Insects

Insects can be a persistent nuisance throughout the summer months. They tend to fly into conservatories and struggle to find their way out again. Ignore them for too long, and you’ll get a large collection of dead flies stuck in the blinds.

We recommend checking your blinds roughly once a week. Most of the time, you’ll be able to remove unwanted visitors by shaking them loose. You can unclip one end of the blinds if this makes it easier. If there’s any debris that clings to the fabric, try using a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner to remove it.

Keep The Conservatory Clean

The best way to ensure your blinds stay vibrant is to clean the whole conservatory regularly. Washing the windows every week will prevent grime from building up, and scrubbing the upholstery is a good idea too. Try to make cleaning the conservatory part of your home maintenance routine, even during the winter. It’s easy to neglect your conservatory when you don’t use it as often, but basic steps like this will stop the dirt from accumulating over time.

Our blinds are designed to be durable and easy to maintain. Make a habit of tidying your blinds and you’ll find they won’t only last for years, they’ll look amazing too. If you’d like to examine our full range of blinds, why not request a free brochure or book a free design consultation?
